WI for restoring data in GPW’s environment

When should this KB be used or referenced?

Section titled “When should this KB be used or referenced?”
  • When requested to restore data from backup
  1. Log onto GPW-UPD01 from ScreenConnect
  2. Login with the credentials shown below:


  1. Launch Veeam Backup and Replication from the desktop. The credentials will auto-populate, so all that needs to be done is to click Connect


  1. Click on Restore -> VMware vSphere


  1. Click on Restore from backup


  1. Select Guest files restore


  1. Select Microsoft Windows


  1. Expand GPW-BackupCopy and highlight the server you need the file restored from


  1. Click Next
  2. Select the correct day you need the file/folder from and click Next
  3. Once that’s loaded, click on Browse


  1. Wait for the screen below to come up; it will begin to start the restore session


  1. You should be able to see the progress from here:


  1. Once finished mounting, you will see this screen (please note that there might be more drives depending on what the server has)


  1. Expand the drive and locate the file you need to restore
  2. Right-click and select Copy to


  1. Put in the path you would like to restore to. This is going to be the temporary location for the file/folder restoring onto GPW-UPD01. Please make sure there’s enough space
  2. *The reason for not putting it directly on the server is to avoid overwriting


  1. Once the restore has been completed, please move this restore into the original location. Do not overwrite. If needed to, create a folder called restore
  2. Let the end user handle that last part and have them confirm before closing ticket
