PURPOSE The patch template is used to detail the patch management policies for client devices. It contains separate sections for servers and workstations, where each section lays out the days/times patches are rolled out, as well as any additional requirements specific for that type of device or client. The template also provides the option to create a relationship with the client devices via the relationship editor option, which shows which devices are associated with the policy; relationships can also be created to associate any client users who have ownership of the procedures in use.

GUIDELINES

1. In Dreamtsoft, navigate to CMDB. At the bottom left, go to Governance -> Policies. This will open up a page that shows the different policy templates. Click the ”+” to add a new one. Select the Patch POL template.

2. At the top, change “Company” to the appropriate client.

3. In the “Server patch policy” section, proceed to fill out the time window, week of the month, and day(s) of the week during which patches will be rolled out as applicable.

4. In the “Server Patching notes” box, add any additional notes for any deviations from the above or any additional requirements needed to complete the patch installs.

5. Repeat steps 3-4 for the “Workstation patch policy” section as applicable.

6. A relationship can be established in the policy for certain client devices in order to establish that they use these patch settings. To add devices, click “Relationship Editor” at the bottom. On the page that opens, select “Governance for” under CI. Locate the devices to be added, check the boxes next to them, and then click “Attach”. This will associate the devices with this policy.

A client user can also be associated with the policy by going to Relationship Editor -> Owned. Search for the user(s), check the box next to them, and then click “Attach”. This will grant the user ownership to the policy.

7. Once completed, save the policy and then change the slider to Active status.
